WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION
The aim of this project is to set up a Free School (Primary to Secondary State Funded School) in Reading (RG1) that would open in September 2013 (providing a sufficient of parents registered their interest) and take the lead in finding new ways to interpret & deliver the National Curriculum.
The near future described in the video below is one of the reasons why it is so important to set up a school that will have this philosophy at its heart. It is about the need for a new generation of schools for a new generation of learners.
Our aim is for ALL LEARNERS
To have strong literacy, numeracy and emotional skills
by the end of Primary
To be independent and confident learners
by the end of Preparatory
To get at least the English Baccalaureate (A* to C grades)
by the end of Secondary
We want to create a small language specialist all-through school at a walking distance of people living or working in the town centre of Reading (RG1)
We want small classes where, even after Primary School, the home-teachers spend a third of their time with the same learners and will be supported by local partners (e.g. Berkshire Maestros in Music) and technology (e.g. Curatr) to teach truly cross-curricular lessons.
We want a school with close links with the university of Reading to offer a range of after school activities for learners until 6pm, and the Workers' Educational Association (WEA)to offer services to parents and the community after 7pm.
